The Right Place to Write

Finding a good place to write is hard for those of us who have a hard time concentrating on just our writing. For me, I always need a quiet place with no distractions in order to really get into the groove. I have a really hard time writing in public places or places where there are a lot of visual and auditory distractions. Perhaps it’s my ADHD, but I usually have to lock myself away to really get into my story.

It’s always nice to get away someplace quiet and relaxing to write. We’re down in Fredericksburg visiting friends and I always find it to be the perfect place to get some good writing done.

When you have such an amazing view it’s easy to get lost in your work. I find nature and water to be incredibly relaxing.

I’m happy to say that I’ve gotten a lot accomplished and working on finishing the last part of Sally Singletary. I’m almost done! I’m right at 72,000 words. I was shooting for 80,000 but I think it’s going to come just shy of that. I’d rather have a good ending than one that’s drawn out for the sake of word count.

We’ll be heading back home tomorrow. So sad to be leaving, but I’ve still got a lot of work ahead of me before the summer comes to an end. I’m glad that we got the opportunity to get away. It was a much needed break for both of us (even if I did use it to get some writing done.)
